Gaurav Bali, Attorney at Law
Gaurav Bali is a trial attorney who has practiced in California's courts since 2011. Born in California and a Bay Area resident his entire life, he represents clients throughout the state — in family law, civil litigation, and criminal defense — from his principal office in Oakland.
His practice has been built in the courtroom. Mr. Bali has handled hundreds of long cause evidentiary hearings in family court — contested trials over property, support, and child custody — as well as domestic violence proceedings. In criminal court, he has taken jury trials to verdict, including homicide.
Clients work directly with Mr. Bali at every stage of their case. His approach is the same whether the matter is a custody dispute, an injury claim, or a felony charge: prepare thoroughly, speak plainly about options, risks, and costs, and be ready to try the case if trying the case is what it takes.
Mr. Bali is admitted to the State Bar of California and to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He is a member of the Alameda County Bar Association and the California Public Defenders Association.

How are your fees structured?
By practice area — and always explained clearly, in writing, before representation begins. Family law matters are billed hourly. In civil litigation, personal injury cases are handled on a contingency-fee basis, while other civil matters — plaintiff or defense — are billed hourly. Criminal defense is handled on flat fees.
